The Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback electric SUV will be launched this year. The German automaker has confirmed that both of its electric vehicles will arrive in India by mid-2021. The e-tron was showcased in India back in 2019, however, the automaker has delayed the vehicle debut. The delay was caused by the slow pace of charging infrastructure in India and the impact of the coronovirus epidemic. Audi is now ready with its first electric vehicles to land its rivals in the Indian market.

Both the E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback siblings are based on the same underpinning, with the Sportback only offering a sloping roof to differentiate itself from the E-Tron. Both use the same powertrain, and internationally, there are three options of specs on offer - the 50, 55 and S-dual-motors that the Quattro offers are standard in the all-wheel-drive range. Audi is yet to confirm which three specs will be introduced in India.

In the e-tron and e-tron Sportback, Audi offers a 95 kWh battery pack. Power output from dual motors is 408 bhp and torque of 664 Nm for the highest spec variant. It is expected to offer a range of 452kms on a single charge.

Upon launch, Audi will take on Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar i-Pace in the e-tron and e-tron sportback segments. Additionally, Volvo has announced the arrival of the XC40 recharge electric SUV that will position itself below a segment. The price of the e-tron and its Sportback sibling is expected to be around Rs 95 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore (ex-showroom).
