Why would you not consider moving back to your hometown to retire?

My hometown is about 1,000 miles closer to the coast than where I currently live. About 20 miles beyond that's the island where my family vacations per annum . it might be foolish to retire to my hometown, once I could retire 20 miles faraway from my hometown and live here instead:

Retiring to my hometown would be like taking the youngsters to Orlando, but not getting to Disney World. Like, why get that close then not do the thing that whole area is world famous for?

It’d be like getting to Italy and never getting pasta for dinner.

Or visiting Mexico for every week and just ordering hamburgers nightly .

Even though it’s about 25 years away, retirement are some things my wife and that i discuss on a daily basis. If we had to make a decision immediately where to retire, it might get on an equivalent beach where we take our annual vacation.

I only have two relatives still above ground in my hometown. My other relatives from my childhood are within the cemetery there now. They aren’t going anywhere. I can visit them any time i prefer .
